![]() ![]() Now, here's where the story gets interesting. ![]() After I sat there complaining for about 15 mins the Tech went to speak to another senior employee and they finally agreed to do a warranty replacement, thus saving me $300 (cost of the repair). Initially, they said there was nothing they could do to replace the battery on Apple's dime, since it was just out of warranty. I took my MBP to the Apple Store and spoke to the Tech at the Genius Bar. It’s like they didn’t expect their product to be last more than a year. But 1 year warranty on original parts is way too short. =/ I understand how people treated their laptops poorly should get extra warranty. I didn’t expect my $4000 MBP will have battery issue in year one. Now I’m kind of regret that I didn’t get Apple Care. You can probably ask him to bump up that date if you want to get it back sooner. I noticed when the Apple genius tech assessing the problem, he put down the pickup day at the beginning of the assessment. It took them five days to delivery to their centralize center to fix the issue (received email on 5th day said they’ve got my MBP) but only a day to fix it and returned it back to my Apple store. The original assessment was around $800, but the final price was around $300 (if I remember it correctly) then my warranty waived it off. According to them, they’ve replaced the battery, the bottom cover, keyboard and the part surrounding the keyboard. ![]()
